At Oak Hill School, our LPNs not only provide medical care but also help to carry out the educational programming as per students’ IEP and Oak Hill school mission.

Oak Hill School provides nursing support in every classroom for students who require medical assistance to access their education.  Our well-trained nurses are experienced in caring for the special needs population with special training in ventilators, tracheostomies, oxygen administration, GT/JT’s, catherizations, oral and trachea-suctioning, nebulizers, CPAPs, BiPaps, smart vests and chest physiotherapy.

“I am so proud to be part of such an innovative and creative team that strives for our students in reaching their fullest potential in self-advocacy, independence, and life-long learning.  As a team, here at Oak Hill School, we embrace the mission and work collaboratively to offer each student an individual school program.  We make it happen!”

-Joann Diaz, RN Supervisor

Nurses collaborate with teacher, PT, OT, SLP, vision and other specialists, along with parents/guardians and outside agencies (DDS, DCF and DPH). In addition, our psychiatrist who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, is available to provide support to students with behavioral needs. All support staff are available to enhance the student’s learning experience, health, and well-being.

Nursing staff will accompany students during transportation for those students who require medical assistance, to attend school.
